About Karin Hopkinson / Blue Dot Ink

For more than three decades, I’ve worked at the intersection of design, storytelling, and strategy. Blue Dot Ink is the name I’ve used to house my personal portfolio and freelance practice, a space where I direct and deliver visual solutions across branding, print, digital and environmental design.

I’ve built identities from the ground up, led national campaigns, and created communications for organisations ranging from global security brands to independent guest farms and in-house product lines. My work blends concept-driven thinking with a clean, practical aesthetic – always tailored to the client, always grounded in clarity.

At the core of it all is collaboration, curiosity, and a deep respect for design as a tool for making things work and making them beautiful.

And then there’s the other kind of creating, the personal kind. Painting is how I stay connected to visual expression and the emotional depth that fuels my design work.

What I do

I build brands, develop campaigns, and design for impact, across digital, print, physical spaces, and everything in between.

My work is grounded in strategy and shaped by a deep understanding of audience behaviour. I focus on clear objectives and meaningful outcomes, always making sure the design supports the bigger picture.

I’m hands-on, agile, and committed to delivering on time without compromising on craft. And I stay involved, offering support long after the first rollout to help my clients grow with confidence.
